Steps
- Open batchwell.app, type your email and tap Email me a code. Batchwell is in beta, so use the email your invite went to. Not invited yet? Join the beta.
- Check your email, type the 6-digit code and tap Sign in. If you asked for more than one code, use the newest.
- On Set up Batchwell, enter your Business name. Your name is shown on batch records. Pick your State: it’s used for cottage food rules and sales tax.
- Under What do you make?, tick everything that applies: Soap & body care, Candles & home fragrance, Cottage food & baked goods, or Crafts & general goods. Batchwell sets up checklists and goals to match. You can change this later.
- Under Your first brand, enter the Brand name and a Lot code prefix of up to six letters or numbers. Batchwell suggests one from your initials. Every batch lot code starts with it, like WW-261028-DO101.
- Tap Create my workspace. You land on Today, with a Get set up list: add your materials, add a recipe, make a test batch, add what you sell and, if you like, connect your store.
Invited to someone else’s workspace instead? Ask them to add your email, then reload the page.
Finding your way around
On a phone, the bar along the bottom has Today, Make, Stock, Sell and More. More lists every screen, grouped into Make, Stock, Sell, Money, Comply and Develop. On a computer, the same list runs down the left side. These guides write “More → Receive” for short.
Settings, brands and people
Open More and tap Settings, brands & people at the top. Owners and admins can change these; everyone else can look.
- Business: the name, state, Sales tax rate (%), time zone and Units, either “oz and lb (with grams)” or “grams and kilograms”.
- What you make: the same choices as at sign-up. Keep at least one.
- Brands: type a new brand name and prefix, tick Vegan only if it applies, and tap Add brand. In the table, Cruelty-free suppliers only keeps lots from suppliers who declined the Leaping Bunny declaration out of that brand’s batches.
- People: type an email, pick a role and tap Add person. Then tap Email them the invite or Copy invite text.
The roles are:
- Owner: everything, including billing.
- Admin: everything but billing.
- Maker: batches, stock and sales.
- Viewer: read only.
Good to know
- There’s no password. Each person signs in with their own email and a 6-digit code.
- A new lot prefix applies to new batches only. Codes already made don’t change.
- With more than one brand, switch between them at the top of the screen. Recipes, batches and products belong to one brand.
- Batchwell is free during the beta. Settings shows your plan, and nothing is charged until you choose one.
Written for the Batchwell beta, October 2026. Screens can change as we build; if something here doesn’t match what you see, tell us.
