Steps
- In Sell (Products), set Your time, $/hour at the top.
- Enter each product’s prices in the Online, Market, Wholesale and Faire columns, and its Pack $ each: the jar, lid and label.
- In Sales channels, set each channel’s Fees (% of each sale).
- Open More → Know your worth.
- Set your Target margin. It starts at 60%.
- Read across each product: its cost per unit, then for each channel the price and what you keep, the margin, and what you earn per hour.
- Use the At 60% margin and Keystone columns as starting points for your prices.
How the numbers work
- Cost per unit: ingredients by weight, packaging, and your batch minutes at your hourly rate.
- You keep: the price, less the channel’s fee, less the full cost including your time.
- Per hour: what’s left after materials and fees, divided by the time it took.
- The wholesale suggestion uses a margin 25 points lower than your target.
- Keystone: wholesale at twice cost, retail at twice wholesale.
- Suggested prices round up: to the next 50 cents under $10, and to the next dollar above.
Good to know
- Until you release a batch, costs are estimates from the recipe and your material prices. Estimates leave out your time.
- A red notice means a product loses money on at least one channel.
- Missing ingredient prices or packaging costs make a product look cheaper than it is. Receive materials with their prices to fix it.
