Steps
- Tap Start a batch on Today, or Start batch on a recipe.
- Choose the Recipe and version. If it has scents, tap the one you’re making.
- Choose By batch weight or By units, and enter the size. The batch weight includes waste and top-off.
- Check the grams, then tap Start batch and assign lot code. The batch opens with its lot code at the top.
- On Weigh, put each ingredient on the scale and type what it reads. It saves as you type. One at a time shows one line, large; All lines shows the whole list.
- Check the lot on each line. If only one lot can be used, it’s chosen for you. Otherwise the lot to use first is listed first: soonest expiry, then oldest delivery.
- Tap Next through the lines, then Go to steps.
- On Steps, tap the box beside each step when it’s done. Log temperatures with Log temp. Tap Start on a step’s timer; it stays on screen and chimes when it ends.
- Use Log for notes, deviations and photos as you go.
- When it’s made, open Finish. Finish and release a batch.
Split one base into several scents
If a version has more than one scent, choose Split into several scents. Enter the grams for each scent, or tap 6, 12 or 24 to fill that many units. Tap Start split batch and assign lot codes. You weigh the base once, then pour off each portion and add its scent. Each portion gets its own lot code.
Good to know
- Lost signal? Keep going. Weights, step ticks, temperatures and notes save on your phone and send when you’re back online. Batchwell needs a connection to open, so start the batch with signal. Photos need a connection too.
- The screen stays awake while a batch is in progress.
- A weight more than 2% off the plan is flagged. More than 5% shows in red.
- Weighing into one pot? Within a phase, Batchwell shows what the scale should read after each addition.
- Quarantined and expired lots, and lots from do-not-reorder suppliers, can’t be chosen. Vegan-only brands flag animal-derived materials.
- Two phones on one batch see each other’s ticks and timers.
- To untick a step, tap it twice. Packaging lines have Count as planned.
